Rights Respecting Schools

At Mulgrave Primary School, we are proud to be working towards the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA). This recognises our commitment to placing children's rights at the heart of everything we do. Guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), we are creating a school where every child feels safe, respected, valued and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our Rights Respecting journey supports our vision that every child can be successful in their own right and helps to ensure that every member of our school community is treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
Children's rights are woven throughout our curriculum, teaching and learning, helping pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to become confident, compassionate and responsible citizens. We encourage our pupils to understand not only their own rights but also the responsibilities that come with respecting the rights of others. Through meaningful pupil voice, collaborative learning and opportunities such as our Active Rights Ambassadors, children are empowered to share their ideas, influence positive change and play an active role in shaping our school community.
Our Rights Respecting ethos underpins our approach to behaviour, relationships and wellbeing. By promoting kindness, inclusion, equality and mutual respect, we foster a positive learning environment where every child feels they belong and can thrive. As we continue our journey towards becoming a Rights Respecting School, we are strengthening our commitment to developing respectful relationships, celebrating diversity and ensuring that the voice of every child is heard, valued and acted upon. Together, we are building a school community where rights are lived every day and every child is encouraged to flourish.
